He crafts the bowl and the base from black walnut with a handsome grain that echoes the ripples in your drink. The wooden pieces are joined by either lightweight powder-coated aluminum or plexiglass stems. Rasmussen carefully sands his wood to be velvety smooth and then finishes it with an FDA-approved sealant keeping the wood from interfering with the beverage's flavors.
